Wycombe is a great place to travel from by minibus. Its location north-west of London means not just that it is close to the capital and all its attractions, but is also very well placed for trips beyond the south-east to all points of the compass.
This makes the town well-placed for day trips to all sorts of places, something football fans from the town can hire minibuses to do over the next nine months.
While the Olympics has been centre stage recently and much of the cricket season is left to unfold, the domestic football season is now getting underway. Just weeks after England’s 58 years of hurt continued as they lost the Euro 2024 final to Spain, it’s all starting again.
Wycombe Wanderers fans will be getting excited about the prospects for the year ahead, having narrowly missed out on silverware last year when the Chairboys reached the Bristol Street Motors Trophy final against Peterborough.
While another trip to Wembley in that competition would be great, a visit there in the play-offs would be even more exciting. After three seasons finishing in mid-table in League One, could this be the season for a serious promotion charge?
The early away fixtures offer some interesting games to say the least, starting with the opening game of the season away to FC Hollywood, sorry, Wrexham. This is followed by a much shorter trip to Northampton on August 13th for an EFL Cup tie. This will be one of two upcoming trips to Sixfields, with the league fixture scheduled for September 14th.
August 20th will bring the first away trip to London with a visit to AFC Wimbledon, while the last away match of this month is a longer trip but also a chance to visit the seaside, ride a tram and climb the tower as well as watch the team take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool away actually represents the longest trip of the season at 218 miles, although there will be other journeys to the north-west to visit the likes of Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and newly-promoted Stockport County, plus visits to Barnsley, Rotherham and Huddersfield in Yorkshire. The furthest away trip in the south will be to Exeter, at 179 miles.
This means there can be some great away days out without having to get up at ridiculously early times in the morning, with a lot of trips to clubs around the south, east and Midlands. As well as Wimbledon, London games include fixtures against Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient, while there are also trips to Bristol (Rovers) and Birmingham.
For many fans, matches against rival teams are the first thing they look for and while the likes of Oxford and MK Dons aren’t in League One this year, a trip to face Reading at the Madejski Stadium will be a top priority for many. This game takes place on April 5th, so there is lots of time to plan ahead.
Of course, there may be much more than this to come. Apart from the Northampton trip, there will be the Bristol Street Motors Cup matches to come and, perhaps, a plum cup draw against one of the big boys, such as a repeat of the EFL tie at Manchester City in 2021 or the FA Cup trip to Spurs in 2017, when the home side had a scare before winning 4-3.
It will not have escaped anyone’s notice, of course, that not everyone in Wycombe is a Wanderers fan and whether they have moved to the town from elsewhere or thought it was a good idea when they were a kid, there will be folk who follow other teams and might now find themselves seeking minibuses for their team’s supporters club.
Travelling in comfort and style is what it is all about, of course, whether you are following a lower division team around small grounds as they bid for promotion to a higher division, or one of the big clubs as they pursue major silverware or a place in European competition.
With a professional driver to get you there and back no matter what the traffic or how near or far it is, you and your fellow fans can concentrate on enjoying a great day out, relaxing in comfort before and after the game. With a choice of a 19-seat minibus or a 55-seat coach, we can also cater for different levels of demand.
How the season ahead will proceed on the field remains to be seen, but one thing you can be guaranteed is stylish and comfortable travel to and from matches.
